Acumen News n°12
We would first like to give you the latest sales and implementation news: The IFRS module is currently used by two of our customers. We have a new customer using the API module, in order to plug external valuation programs to ACUMEN. Moreover, another client is testing the Inflation Linked Bond module.
We have also been working for several months on the Web based version of ACUMEN and we are planning to organise a Cyber-seminar in the coming weeks in order to present it to our clients. We will soon send you an invitation and hope to have the pleasure of your audience for this event.
Last but not least, here is a selection of the main enhancements performed in ACUMEN release 5.60 during the second semester 2004. Please contact us at if you wish to know more about these subjects, or if you wish to learn about all the changes performed on this new release.
New functions
INPUT BLOTTER / Deal creation
The "New Input" menu of the DEAL CAPTURE has been integrated into the INPUT BLOTTER module, allowing to have a direct access to the creation of deals (including the QUICK INPUT module). This allows to create, check and validate deals from a single point in ACUMEN, and from a module which can be automatically open at ACUMEN start-up.
VAR module / Pnl tables
The results of the Parametric VAR module can now be saved in "Pnl" tables. Global calculation results from "Total" panel, as well as VAR figures per currency per yield curve, and VAR per point of yield curve can be saved. This is especially useful to prepare back testing analysis, and to provide data available for report generators.
VIEW PAYMENT / Account Balance
It is now possible in the VIEW PAYMENT module to see payments per account (one page per currency and account). The total balance of the different Bank's accounts (actual or forecast) is displayed, helping therefore the trader to manage the bank nostros directly from ACUMEN.
INFORMATION SERVER / Quit & Restart
A new button "Quit & Restart" has been added in the INFORMATION SERVER (IS) screen. It allows to quit the IS and to (manually) launch it again without having all clients and other services to log out from ACUMEN. Thus, a shut down and restart of the IS should be totally without consequences for the users; they can continue their activity during the time of reconnection of the IS.
FLEXCUBE interface
The first version of the ACUMEN - FLEXCUBE interface (*) is now available for forex and money market deals. It is based on XML real time interfaces and MQ Series. For this purpose, several tables and fields have been added in ACUMEN to allow to manage FLEXCUBE related fields. This information, together with the standard deal information, can be used in ACUMEN for reporting purposes and is sent to FLEXCUBE for further processing.
(*) i-flex’s premier offering is FLEXCUBE, an end-to-end product suite for consumer, corporate, investment and internet banking, asset management, and investor servicing. i-flex solutions is a leader in providing IT solutions to the financial services industry. It has serviced 450 customers in more than 100 countries.
Multi-language
It is now possible to specify the language used in ACUMEN masks, menus and messages. Currently, the available choices are "English" and "French". An ACUMEN table allows to store all translations whatever the language. This functionality is targeted to new customers, allowing to propose ACUMEN to non English-speaking users.
Tickets and Confirmations by E-mail
It is now possible to send deal tickets or confirmations from ACUMEN to a client directly by E-mail. The same tickets and confirmations templates can be used for print and E-mail purposes. The E-mail including the ticket or confirmation can be sent either on request, or automatically depending eventually on the counterparty (e.g., for external counterparties, print-out of deal ticket upon creation, and E- mail of confirmation upon deal validation).
